As I set off to watch one of my cousins graduate from high school, guess what's on my mind?
This week's Dare to Share theme is graduation. Now, you can use this in the very literal sense and share any post, old or new, about an actual graduation, OR you can share any post, old or new, that reflects some kind of moment of moving on, growing up, getting to that next level in life.
I can't wait to read your posts! Have fun! Linkup goes to Thursday, and if you link up, try to visit and thoughtfully comment on at least two other posts.

Dare to Share: Lesson Learned
This week's Dare to Share linkup theme comes from According to Mags. Be sure to check out her blog where she features the wise and hilarious thoughts of her four-year-old, as well as some stellar writing.
Our theme from According to Mags is Lesson Learned, and we want you to share an old or new blog post in which an important lesson learned is featured. Did you have a rough parenting moment? A colossal mistake a work? Did you say the completely wrong thing at the wrong time?
Share with us any post in which you, a friend, a family member, or one of your characters learned a lesson. Link it up below, and be sure to visit and leave some thoughtful comment love for some of your fellow linkers.
Have fun, and thanks again According to Mags!!
If you'd ever like to contribute a theme for our Dare to Share linkup, feel free to Facebook or Tweet us!

Dare to Share: Laughter
It's the best medicine.
It's "the shortest distance between two people."
It's "an instant vacation."
And my personal favorite:
It's "an orgasm triggered by the intercourse of sense and nonsense."
This week for Dare to Share we want you to bring us Laughter. Share a funny blog post, a memory that makes you giggle, and fictional tale full of belly laughs and guffaws. Remember you can share a post that's old or new.
As usual, if you link up, try to visit and thoughtfully comment on at least two or three other links. You have until Sunday to link up.

Dare to Share: Anything Goes
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend so far. In celebration of Spring and the gorgeous weather we've been having in Georgia, I thought this weekend we'd have another "Anything Goes" Dare to Share theme. For this theme, you can post anything. Memoir, fiction, poetry. It doesn't matter. The post can be old or new. Long or short. As the theme suggests, anything goes.
Oh, and for those of you wondering about the Flicker of Inspiration prompt? Well, we'll be unveiling a surprise prompt in the morning. Get excited!
As always, we only have a couple of "rules" for linking up with Dare to Share. Please visit and thoughtfully comment on at least three other posters. If you have the chance, grab one of the buttons from our sidebar. The linkup closes tomorrow night at midnight. And most importantly, have fun!

Dare to Share: Money
With the Megamillions Jackpot in the US last night, money seems to be on everyone's minds lately. Money also makes a lot of people foolish, and with April Fool's Day coming up tomorrow...well, what could be more perfect? This week's Dare to Share theme is Money.
Share a post that touches on this touchy and sometimes foolish subject...unless you won the jackpot, then share that! Ha!
If you link up, remember to try to visit and thoughtfully comment on at least two other linked up posts. The linkup is available all weekend, so don't forget to check back with us as the weekend carries on. Have fun!

Dare to Share: Spring
Since this past week we saw the first day of Spring, I thought it might be fun to have a Spring theme for Dare to Share. Spring can include many different types of posts, including posts about birth and rebirth, posts about gardening, enjoying the outdoors, etc., etc., so feel free to use the theme loosely.
And have fun!

Dare to Share: Brave
When I first started blogging, I blogged about food...and the weather...and my cats. I never really got up the nerve to blog about anything real or revealing until I started interacting with the blogging community. Slowly, I realized how nice they all were. Slowly, I realized that sharing more of myself and of my hopes and fears and dreams was exactly what I needed.
Sometimes it's hard to share things so personal, but the readers whom I've come to consider friends make even the hardest posts easier to share.
This week we want you to Dare to Share something Brave, something that took was hard to hit publish on. It can be about anything, but we've all been there before. To post or not to post...to reveal something so intimate and personal and revealing that others will see your vulnerability, will see the inside of your heart.
Linkup your "Brave" post below. If you linkup try to visit and comment on at least two other writers.

Dare to Share: Best. Post. Ever.
Do you ever write something that you're so darn proud of you're convinced you'll never write anything as good again? Like a fictional tale that you have to keep reading over and over again you love it so much? Or a memoir post that makes you and everyone else cry every time you read it?
Sure, you'll go on and write something better...eventually. But sometimes, the stars align just perfectly; the inspiration flows from your fingertips like a fine wine; and you just know you've written something special.
This week we'd like you to share your Best. Post. Ever. And if you have a chance, answer one (or some) of these questions in the comments section below:
Why did you pick the post you shared?
What makes your post special?
Was it hard to choose a Best. Post. Ever?
How do you measure your own writing ability? What makes you proud?
If you link up, try to visit and thoughtfully comment on at least two other posts. And if you don't mind, share our Dare to Share hop on Facebook and Twitter. Help us spread the word about our small and supportive community!

Dare to Share: Your Relationship with Writing
The resulting frustration of this Week from Hell has caused me to reevaluate my relationship with writing and that self-reflection has bled over into this week's Dare to Share theme.
This week I'd like you to share a post that shows us your relationship with writing. This can be a blog post directly related to writing or a blog post that makes you particularly proud of your writing. If you don't have a post that meets one of those themes, then you can post a comment explaining your relationship with writing or you can write an entirely new blog post around the subject.
1) Remember the post you share can be old or new.
2) If you link up, try to visit and thoughtfully comment on at least two other posts.
3) Grab our button from the sidebar, tweet about the linkup, or facebook about it. We want to spread the word as much as possible about our supportive and fun community!
Happy Sharing!

Dare to Share: Something Old
This week for Dare to Share we want you to reach back in your archives and share an older post. For you shiny, newer blogs, just share something that's not been posted within the last few weeks. For the older, crotchety blogs, reach back at least six months.
Share a post that you're proud of or that might not have gotten the attention you thought it deserved.
You have until Sunday to linkup, so don't linkup and run. Come back throughout the weekend and check out the new posts that will be added.
If you do link up, try to visit and comment on at least 2 other writers' posts.
Enjoy!

Dare to Share Linkup: Your Own Love Story

Love is on our mind here at the Lightning and the Lightning Bug, so it's no surprise that our Dare to Share linkup theme this week is all about love.
This week we want you to share your own love story. Share with us the story of meeting your significant other. Share with us the tale of your wedding day. Tell us who the love of your life is...be it animal, human, or inanimate object (i.e. shoes!).
As always with Dare to Share, the post you share can be brand new or one from your archives.
We can't wait to read all your stories in all of their mushy, sappy, and irresistible glory :)
Our linkup closes Sunday at midnight Eastern time. Don't forget that if you link up, you need to visit and thoughtfully comment on at least two of your peer's posts. Remember that our community is about support and encouragement, so be sure that you don't skip this vital step.
Also, remember to grab a Dare to Share button from our sidebar or from down below and spread the word by tweeting, facebooking, and generally pimping us out.
Thanks!

Dare to Share Link Up: Kicking Ass
Welcome to the weekend! I don't know about y'all, but I've never been so happy to see a work week end. This was a rough one for me, but it ended on a incredibly high note and that high note has inspired today's linkup theme.
Today's theme is: Kicking Ass. And I want you to share a post where you kick a little ass. It can be a story of a success, overcoming a fear, or literally kicking someone's ass. OR it can be a post that you kicked ass on, be it fiction, non-fiction, or whatever. You're just damn proud of it, and you want to share it with your fellow writers.
This linkup is available ALL WEEKEND, so don't forget to stop back by and check out any new posters before your weekend ends. Oh, and if you linkup, grab a button, share our community, and try to thoughtfully comment on at least two other writers' posts.
Happy Weekend!

Dare to Share Link Up: Anything Goes
The holidays are closing in! As we all scramble to cook the perfect meal, find the perfect gift, and other holiday-themed tasks, I thought it would be nice to have an easy, no-thought-required linkup theme this week (please read: I'm Lazy). This week's theme is: Anything Goes. Link up whatever post you'd like, as long as it includes some of your fabulous writing. No giveaway posts please.
Have fun and try to visit at least a few of the other linkup participants, and remember linking up enters you for a chance to become our Writer of the Week here at The Lightning and the Lightning Bug!
Speaking of Writer of the Week, this week's Writer is:
Dawnie at The Dawnie Project
Funny just doesn't quite seem to do justice to Dawnie. She's more like hilarious. Her sarcastic brand of humor is just my style, and a visit to her blog always leaves me laughing out loud (and I don't you that phrase lightly). If you haven't had the privilege and honor yet, then I suggest you visit The Dawnie Project asap. She has things like solar plants and scary, Santa-sacrificing neighbors....I mean, who would want to miss that? Go! Now!
