Linkup and Flicker of Inspiration Prompt #24: Make it Sizzle

Did everyone remember to fall back? It's pretty late this year. Feels like we'll be back on Daylight Savings in about three weeks. I feel like Daily Savings Time might be better.

How's the weather for you? It's been nice here. It's just now cool enough in our part of Georgia to need a bit of a jacket in the mornings. It's a great time of year - and your job this week was to write about it. Let's see what you've got.

Same procedure as always. Limkup below; despite the late start (I'm blaming the time change for throwing me off) it'll be open until Wednesday. Link back here with a button, which you'll find in the right column, and don't forget to read and respond to at least three other posts. Check back once in a while and see what's new, and get to work on next week's prompt when you can.

For next Sunday: Flicker of Inspiration Prompt #24: Make it Sizzle
One of the best things you can do to bring a reader into your story is engage the senses. Rich visual descriptions are important, since people in general are very visually-focused. Don't neglect the other senses, though: they're all a part of human experience. The smell of the couch in your parents' living room; that weird flavor in your spouse's signature dish that you don't have the courage to ask about; the way your mouth tastes weird for days after going to the dentist.

This week, write something that will let you focus on the five primary senses. Pick one or two if you want, or go for all five if you like. We'll set the word limit at 800 words. Good luck!

P.S.: Anyone working on NaNoWriMo? It's National Novel Writing Month, the month where the folks who've been meaning to work on their novels have an excuse to get around to it. If you're going for it, more power to you! Let us know in the comments section!
