"I'm assigning you... a theme." [groans from students]
"What I want for Christmas" ["aha!" thinks Ralphie...]
Sunday will be just one short (yet so very very long) week until Christmas. In some ways (those that involve being in stores and watching tv commercials), I think we're all sick of it and ready for it to be over. But in the much better and more important way (the one involving being around the parts of your family you like and getting and giving nice gifts and eating some good food) we're only just now getting properly excited.
So this week, I want everyone to work on a piece to fit the theme, "All I Want." It doesn't really have to be about Christmas; as God knows, there are indeed other things going on in this world even in December, and there are even non-Christmas holidays that people really do care about. Just write about the one thing you want more than anything.
The only thing Ralphie cared about or wanted was "an official Red Ryder carbine action 200-shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time." Dr. Evil just wanted a hundred billion dollars and a good relationship with his son. Garfield just wants lasagna and a nap. Think about your lasagna-and-a-nap and come by on Sunday to share it with us.
